Prayers for your Middle School daughter for 7 days of the Week

Friends, these are my prayers this week for my middle school girl.  They aren't perfect.  But they are real.  I decided to write them out this evening in the event some of you may be looking for how to pray for your middle school girl this week. I also share my prayers with my kids and we focus on the scripture as a family during the week as well.  Blessings!! Jayne

Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.

Proverbs 13:20

Heavenly Father, you know the heart of my daughter better than I do.  You see her desire to be the most liked in the classroom. How she longs for popularity and significance among her peers. Would You please surround her with friends who have a desire to seek You first among all lesser things? Who will encourage her to find her significance in You alone-  as they are doing as well.  Help her to discern who among her circle of friends brings her down and who points her to You.  Give her wisdom to see the difference and I would also boldly ask that You personally remove anyone from her life who is being used by the enemy to fill her mind with things that will harm her and dishonor You.  I trust You with my daughter Lord, thank You for loving her even more than I ever could. In Jesus Name - Amen.

Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

1 Peter 3:3-4

Oh Father, this world just makes my heart ache for my daughter.  I can’t imagine what it must make Your heart feel like.  In our home it feels like social media readily fills her young mind of what fashion should be at her age.  Young girls looking like teenagers, teenagers looking like young adults and older adults trying to look  a lot like...well…. teenagers.  Lord we have messed up what Your idea of beauty is all about.  Father, please help my daughter find her beauty in the areas that You have specifically laid out for her.  Help her to understand that real beauty comes from within.  That being kind and gentle and maintaining a quiet spirit is precious to You.  Come to think of it Lord, I need help in that area too.   I trust You with my daughter Lord, thank You for loving her even more than I ever could. In Jesus Name - Amen.

And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.

Mark 12:30

Lord I have found it 15 separate times  in scripture where You have it laid out clearly that we should love You with all of our hearts, souls, minds, and strength.  It is not missed on me that You felt the need to repeat it that many times.  Lord if I have failed to teach my children this above all things, I ask your forgiveness.  Oh Father, help me.  Help me - to help them - to understand the necessity - no the urgency - of this command.  Father I admit to You  that we seek lesser things   Lord, please help us going forward to ensure our children know that to love You with everything in them is the greatest goal in life.  Please provide us with ways to incorporate that into our daily living.  I’m looking to You Lord in this matter.   I trust You with my children Lord, thank You for loving them even more than I ever could. In Jesus Name - Amen.

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Heavenly Father, You have gifted my daughter in so many ways.  Talents I see in her that she still hasn’t tapped into yet.  I know You have a purpose for her in this world and I want to thank You in advance for what I am believing You will do through her life one day.  Father I pray whether she is on the volleyball court, study hall, or just hanging out with friends that she would sense Your presence.  That whatever she is doing, she would remember that she belongs to You and is representing You to a watching world.  Lord, she is not so unique that she will be sinless, but I pray that when she does sin, she will both be caught and be quick to repent!  Lord speak into her sweet heart that when she repents YOU will fully and immediately restore her to right standing before You.  Lord I do pray that whatever she does - small or great - that it will be done with Your throne and Your glory in mind.  Father, use her to expand Your kingdom here in her lifetime.  I trust You with my daughter Lord, thank You for loving her even more than I ever could. In Jesus Name - Amen.

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Oh Lord I know this is true!  Father, my daughter is being told all the time what she should think about oh - everything!  By her friends, by her teachers, by us.  Lord, I know only You know ultimately what is right and best for her.  I know that even our best wisdom is broken and inferior to Yours.   I pray today that You would cultivate in her heart a love for Your word.  The place where she will find wisdom and direction.  The place where she will come to understand her purpose. The sacred place where she will meet You on a daily basis.  Lord, I’d ask that you continue to work in her Your transforming power.  Help her to know Your will for her life.  Affirm in her that Your will for her life will be good and pleasing and perfect.  Just like You are.  I trust You with my daughter Lord, thank You for loving her even more than I ever could. In Jesus Name - Amen.

But you, Timothy (insert Child’s name), are a man(woman) of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

1 Timothy 6:11

Oh Lord Jesus, the temptations coming at my daughter are many.  Whether fighting off the fleshly desires that come with simply being human or the ones the enemy flaunts in front of her, Father I’d ask that you deliver her from them all.  Lord, I’d ask that as she grows into the woman you have determined that she will become that she would resist the evil one and be aware of his schemes.  That she would be wiser than her peers and lead others along the path of righteousness for Your Name’s sake.  That she would pursue hard after righteousness and live a godly life.  Fill her with faith and love, perseverance and gentleness. Lord, these are things only You can do in one’s life.  Do it Lord.  Please do it for her.  We cannot make it here without You Lord.  We cannot.  Thank You for Your faithfulness to complete the good work You have started in our lives, and in my daughter’s life.   I trust You with my daughter Lord, thank You for loving her even more than I ever could. In Jesus Name - Amen.

Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.

1 Corinthians 6:18

Oh Father, I can see the oversexualization of our society happening so evidently.  There aren't any boundaries left and everything You designed to be sacred has become a joke.  Lord I invite you into this area of my children’s lives in a powerful way.  Father,  protect what is reserved for their spouses from fleeting emotions resulting in empty satisfaction.  Help them to really grasp the importance of purity.  That the boundaries You have set aren’t there to ruin their “fun”, but to protect them from future heartache.  God I cannot parent the way You have called me to without Your help.  At my best I feel inadequate to tackle these subjects.  My own sin glaring me in the face makes me feel hypocritical as I try and set the standard for a better life for them.  But Lord, I lay all my inadequacies at Your feet.  Thanking You once again for Your forgiveness and redemption. Yes, thank you Father for that!!  Thank You also that You will be faithful to my children as I entrust them into Your care. I trust You with my children Lord, thank You for loving them even more than I ever could. In Jesus Name - Amen.
